Version 1.3

(April 2007)

General remarks
Release v1.3 finally comes out in one executable file. There are no more executables for BASEchain and BASEplane seperately. Some minor changes to the syntax of the command file have been defined. The documentation has been updated to cover all changes in syntax and new functions.

Subsystem BASEdomain

  • A logical error check is performed between reading the input file and the start of the simulation. In case of logical errors (contradictions, missing informations, etc.) the simulation will stop immediately. In any case, a file 'inputerror.err' is created where all errors and warnings are listed for the current command file. It is highly recommended to have a look at this file for every simulation being started.

Subsystem BASEchain (1D)

  • Problem in computation of cross section area fixed
  • Problem with omission of values in topography file fixed
  • Sediment transport fixed
  • New output: difference of water volume
  • New output: difference of sediment volume
  • Bed load formula of Rickenmann implemented
  • Output of topology of cross section not automatic anymore
  • Output of sediment mixtures not automatic anymore
  • Some changes in command file syntax to be consistent with 2D

Subsystem BASEplane (2D)

  • Computation of the inlet bedload from bedload hydrograph modified
  • Jacobian matrix corrected to calculate the slopes for quadrilateral elements
  • Coefficient 'C' for weir calculation improved
  • Output for cell centers is modified. Instead of a xyz-output, a mesh file including the centers coordinates with the elements numbers is written.
  • Flux over a weir corrected
  • Time step computation extended to the boundary edges. (In previous versions, only the internal edges have been considered for time step computation)
  • New Parameter 'node_elevation_method' added to PARAMETER block in MORPHOLOGY. The calculation of the nodal elevation based on this method can be performed using 'interpolation' or 'slope' methods.
  • Memory allocation for pure hydraulic simulations improved. Less memory is needed and allows for handling larger meshes.

System Manual

  • Part U IV has a new Tutorial for 2D simulations
  • Part U IV has a new Tutorial for 1D simulations using HECRAS as geometry input type
  • Part R IV and corresponding structures in U IV are completely revisited
  • Wrong assigned page numbers in some TOCs are corrected
  • Header of part 'Index / Appendix' corrected
