Installing and removing the program

Q: After downloading and unzipping the installation files, I get two files named "setup.exe" and "setup.msi". How do I have to proceed?

A: Just double click on "setup.exe". The installation should start right away.

Q: After having successfully installed the program, i get the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)." resp. "Die Anwendung konnte nicht richtig initialisiert werden (0xc0150002)" when trying to launch BASEMENT.

A: You have to install the Microsoft .NET Framework (see system requirements for version) to avoid this error. The library can be found external pagehere.

Q: How can I remove the program from my computer?

A: Click on the Installation file "setup.exe". You then have the choice to either repair or remove the software. Alternatively, you may go to the System properties - Software to properly deinstall the program.

Basement Command File

Q: I want to open an input-file .bmc to edit but the program starts. How can I edit or view these input files?

A: You can open the input file using an ordinary text viewer as e.g. notepad. Just right-click on an input file *.bmc and select a program from the list under "open with", e.g. Notepad.

Test Cases

Q: When I download an Input file from the Tutorial or Test Case sections, i get a ".zip"-file. What do I have to do with it?

A: A zip-file is a compressed file containing all the input files you need. All you have to do is to extract the content to a folder on your disk. If you dont have any software which can handle zip-files, have a look at e.g. 7-zip.org.
